This piece is a combination of photography and digital art. The photo of the hands was taken on an iphone XR and edited using the photo tool. The flame and further edits were added by me using Ibispaint X. This piece shows that fire can be beautiful in the right hands. If you notice my model, who is my Dad, is wearing is firefighter gloves. You can see the cracks and small details in the leather from being used. Fire is beautiful when contained and controlled.
Medium: Digital Photography and Digital Art Software: Ibispaint X Size: 36x36 photo This piece is a photography piece as well as a digital piece, I took the photo on an iphone XR and edited it within the photo app. I edited the background and added the embers using Ibispaint X. This piece is about looking head on into danger and facing the fires head on. I liked bringing out the details in the helmet and keeping my Dad's last name and station out on the piece. I feel as if the glow could have come out better in this piece.
Medium: Digital Photography and Digital art Software: IbisPaint X (1st version), Procreate (2nd version) Size: 36x36 photo This piece is a photography piece with minor digital edits made. This was taken on my iphone XR and edited within the photo app and then digitally enhanced with Ibispaint X. This piece is about always being prepared to leave at first notice, my model was my Dad in his stations primary engine. I later redid the piece, changing the camera angle to outside and bringing in color instead of black and white.
Medium: Digital Photography and Digital art Software: IbisPaint X (1st version), Iphone Photo editing software Size: 4x6 photo This piece is about the term, "Everybody goes home" and what that phrase means. The phrase refers to striving for less fire fighter deaths while on call, its a promise to those working that when they leave on a call, that they will get to go home. This was a photograph that I took on my Iphone XR and I used the standard photo editing software on my phone.
Medium: Digital Photography Software: Iphone photo editing software Size: 36x48 photo For this piece I used an old Polaroid sx-70 Land camera with the sx-70 film. This was the first time I have ever used a Polaroid, and therefore its rougher than my other pieces. The photo depicts an old firetruck steering wheel on one of the stations first trucks that still remains at the station on display. I later redid the photos using the old Polaroid camera, showcasing the rear view mirror of the fire engine and the steering wheel and seat.
Medium: SX-70 Polaroid Software: SX-70 Polaroid Film Size: Polaroid I enjoyed working on this piece a lot, I gave a hand at realism and this was my first non photo piece. The first version of this piece seemed to cheery for my darker theme so I recently revamped the piece to tell the same message. This piece is to bring awareness on the subject that its not just our homes that are destroyed but animals lose their homes as well. This piece was done on procreate using the lash brush and air brush.
Medium: Digital Art Software: Procreate Size: 16x16 photo This piece is another drawing done on procreate with an apple pencil on my Ipad. The image depicts a horse and a fiery glow. I created the piece to bring awareness that domestic animals such as horses are negatively affected by fires just as we are, I used a scared body language with the ears and flaring nostrils to depict this piece. I later redid this piece to add more of a dramatic affect and to display the image without text.
Medium: Digital Art Software: Procreate Size: 16x16 photo These three photos were taken on my iphone Xr, edited within the camera app and later edited by changing the photo from black and white to red and yellow in proctreate. I used red and yellows to symbolize the smoke filled sky and to bring out finer details that were lost in the black and white. This is a photo of the Idahna-Detroit Rural Fire Protections old rig which was burned in the Beachie Creek Fire in September 2020. While they now have a new engine which was donated by Coos Bay, the truck remains on the side of the road, serving as a constant reminder of what had happened.
Medium: Digital Photography Software: Iphone editing software, Procreate Size: 36x36, 36x48, 36x36 sizes for each photo This piece is a tribute to my Dad who has been my model for my sustained investigation. I am so proud for what he does, no matter the weather, day, or time he is ready to help those in need, even sacrificing his own sleep to help others. This photo was taken on my Iphone XR and edited in the photo app. I chose this angle to showcase most of my Dad's turnouts, and part of the truck, I brought out the red for a pop of color.

My sustained investigation is about the Oregon Fire service and what it means to be a firefighter. The series includes different aspects of the fire service such as personal aspects because of my family, history of fire fighting in the State, and recent events such as the devastating fires in September 2020.
